The 2022-23 Budget has been released on the 25th of October 2022. In this short post we are going to give you an overview of what the government has thought for its citizens.
- Cost of living – the cost of living will be reduced for many Australian families. That includes cheaper childcare centres, cheaper medicines, more affordable housing, increase in wages and extended paid parental leave (26 weeks of paid leave).
- A stronger and more modern economy – the budget is looking at delivering fee-free TAFE places and more TAFE Technology Funds to modernise TAFEs; proving more university places to disadvantaged people; support women’s workforce and encouraging equality of genders; give the elderly the option to keep working and keep more of their pensions by boosting the Work Bonus; upgrade electricity infrastructures to deliver a cheaper energy; restore and protect the natural environment; investing to support the infrastructure and transport.
- The budget aims to pay for things that Australians value, such as spending reductions, prioritising and strengthening the taxation system; strengthening Medicare Fund; investing to deliver better age care; supporting women’s safety; securing the Australian’s borders; Establishing an Anti-Corruption Commission to restore trust and integrity in government.
